"I worked for free for 18 months and he cheated on me": Nancy Dell'Olio denounces Emiliano, earthquake in the Democratic Party

With President Michele Emiliano "we had agreed that I would become the president of Puglia Promozione, the regional body that deals with tourism. While waiting to install the board of directors, an operation that should have taken place 5 years ago, but only happened two months ago, I would have been given the role of Commissioner . The council's resolution was blocked". Speaking in an interview with La Stampa is Nancy Dell'Olio , a lawyer from Bisceglie and in the past also ambassador of Puglia.

The lawyer confessed that she had learned of a tender that directly concerned her. And that she had worked for a year and a half under Emiliano, without compensation. " He asked me to be patient , to start the collaboration like this, as a special consultant. I accepted, I was confident . They had to prepare the law first, which I also collaborated on drafting, but then I was never appointed", explained Dell'Olio. Then, however, they no longer renewed her contract: " For 18 months I worked for free while waiting for the contract to be finalized. I felt cheated not only by the president but also by his cabinet chief Stefano Stefanazzi (now a deputy of the Democratic Party). I was authorized to carry out the projects, the trips, but nothing of what Emiliano had promised me happened ".

But how did that collaboration contract come about? During a dinner for two: "Do you remember the film Once Upon a Time in America? Emiliano reserved the entire restaurant room of the Hotel delle Nazioni, on the seafront, there were only us and the service staff. He showed me the moon that could be admired from the panorama that the roof top offers. He decided everything , even the menu and he ate almost everything alone, I was nervous. There was tuna carpaccio and sea bass in salt. When a man has to strike and wants to show his power, it happens". But then Emiliano disappeared. So the lawyer decided to send him a formal notice "to give the president and his staff time to think and give me answers, but nothing happens ".

Dell'Olio is now seeking justice: "I have seen first-hand this manifest and perennial impunity and the unscrupulous use of power: I had the duty to be direct and courageous even on behalf of those who are afraid to speak out and report". And she denies any kind of sentimental relationship with the governor of Puglia: "I wasn't surprised that he was struck and dazzled by me, but professional skills and abilities must count much more. I learned later from the president that I had aroused jealousy , an irritating rumor is that people in Puglia were saying there was a story".
